Outline for 4-Paragraph Essay

SUBJECT: how to relate a poem and a song to my life
Bell word: togetherness
Paragraph 1 -- Opening
Hook: happieness is not always the key

Comment on the hook: You can easily get someone a happy song or poem

Comment on the hook: the ones that get to you are the ones hardest to read

Thesis  (with bell word): It is hard to listen to these songs

Paragraph 2

TS (Main Idea, Topic, or Thesis): how songs and poems relate

2 Echo words to be used: amicableness, haromony     


SD they both hurt
            CM: it can mean a lot to a person
            CM: it can mean nothing

      SD: Some people don’t know how to hurt
            CM: my friend Rachel was the only one who didn’t cry at the final campfire
            CM: there were some crazy stories

      SD: They both, however, show how people can make a difference
            CM: they might not turn out well
            CM: people can try

CS: there are many relations

Paragraph 3

TS (Main Idea, Topic, or Thesis): how do these compare to my life
2 Echo words to be used: fellowship, amity
     
SD: I have hurt before
            CM: I didn’t know what to do about it
            CM:I had nothing to go to

      SD: I have friends and family who have hurt
            CM: a story about my friend
            CM: a story about my friend (jes)

      SD: however the positive power of pain
            CM: helpful to many people
            CM: is what the poems are about

CS: hurt is everywhere


Paragraph 4

Hook (the same as paragraph 1, or different): people hurt can be put in song

Echo word (could be bell word): togetherness

Comment on the hook: many people take hurt in different ways

Comment on the hook: there is always a positive

Re-statement, in slightly different words, of the thesis: people can hurt
